Passport Status Check SMS Method
First, you will know the passport check SMS method, then you can also know about the online check method.
You can know about the current status of your passport through two methods.
To check passport status using the SMS method first go to the mobile SMS option.
If you want to check your electronic passport or e-passport application status through SMS, go to the SMS option and write START EPP and Application ID from any number and send the SMS to 16445.
For Example: START EPP 4103-000092451 Send 16445.
You will get the Application ID used for the online passport check when you fill out the online application form for the passport.
After submitting the passport application, the slip given to you contains the details along with the passport application ID number.
If you send the SMS correctly then you will know about your passport status on the return SMS.
A 3 Taka charge is also mentioned for sending SMS from any operator in Bangladesh. You should have a certain amount of balance on your phone.
Use the Google Chrome browser on your mobile or computer to check your passport at www.epassport.gov.bd.
In the Check Status menu, enter the Online Registration ID or Application ID along with your date of birth.

Rules for checking passport with passport number
Passport numbers cannot be checked with a passport. Your passport number can be used to check your visa or work permit.
The following options will allow you to check the e-passport delivery slip.

1. Payment Verification Result – Name Mismatch
Inconsistency or discrepancy was found in the spelling of the name on the bank or challan deposit and the name on the passport application.
If you have a birth certificate, national identity card, or passport receipt, contact the passport office immediately.
2. Your Application is pending payment investigation (Amount mismatch or Reference number mismatch)
The passport application fee amount has been calculated by averaging the amount deposited on your challan or the amount on the copy of the challan.
Please provide a photocopy of the passport receipt and invoice as soon as possible to the passport office.
3. Pending Police Approval
Police verification and report are awaiting receipt of your application. It takes more time to investigate at different addresses if the applicant’s current address and permanent address are different.
4. Pending Assistant Director / Deputy Director Approval
An Assistant Director/Deputy Director will review the passport application. Until he approves, he will remain in such a status.
Passing this step may take up to 5/6 days. If more than 3 weeks have passed, the police verification report has not yet been received by the passport office. This is why the approval by Assistant Director/Deputy Director has been delayed.
5. Pending Backend Verification
Backend verification indicates that the information you provided in your passport application is being checked at the central level. All the information is checked again to send the passport application to the printing branch in Dhaka. This is usually not a problem. It is done within 2-3 days.
Why can Pending Backend Verification be a problem?
A number of reasons can cause this problem, the most common ones being,
As the name is not as per the national identity card at the time of passport application, any mistake in the parent’s name or spelling can cause problems.
Those who have earlier MRP passports, now apply for e-passport afresh. If there is any major change in your name, parents’ name in the e-passport application.
For example, Md. Kamal Uddin in MRP passport but as per your national identity card you have applied for e-passport, you have given name, Md. Kamal Hossain. Any change in such wording may delay its verification.
Pending for Backend Verification issues to do
Usually, Pending Backend Verification is not a problem. This step usually takes a maximum of 2 days. There is no reason to worry too much about it.
If you are applying fresh, there should not be any such problem. Wait for 2/3 days.
And if you have a previous MRP passport and there is any discrepancy in MRP name/parent’s name/age with your current e-passport application, you may have to visit the passport office.
If this status is not resolved after 4/5 days, you should contact the passport office with proof of the change in your information or all your necessary documents.
6. Pending for Passport Personalization
In this step, Laser Engraving, HD DOD Color Inject Printing, Security Lamination, Inline Quality Control (Optical and Electronic), and RFID Encoding are completed.
7. In Printer Queue
Your passport is waiting at the printing branch for printing.
8. Printing Succeeded
The passport has been printed successfully. It is then sent to the Quality Control branch for monitoring.
9. QC Succeeded, Ready for Dispatch
After checking the passport for any errors at the Quality Control branch, if everything is fine, your applied passport is prepared for sending to the office.
10. Passport is Ready, Pending for Issuance
It may take 4/5 days for the passport to arrive at the applied passport office from Dhaka. After it reaches the passport office it is ready for delivery.
Then an SMS will be sent to the applicant’s mobile to collect the passport. Please wait 2 working days if you do not receive the SMS.
