How to get Police Clearance Certificate in BD

Police Clearance Certificate is required for employment, higher education or going abroad. However, many do not know how to get this certificate. Therefore, the Media and Public Relations Department of the Police Headquarters has answered various questions in this regard for the convenience of all.

Online police clearance can be applied at http://pcc.police.gov.bd. To apply directly, you can apply by collecting the application form from the DSB office of the concerned district (Office of the Superintendent of Police). Both permanent and temporary addresses have to be given in the application for police clearance.

If the current (temporary) address of a candidate is different from the address in the passport, then a certificate from the ward counselor of the current address should be submitted along with the application.

Attested photocopy of passport information paper by the first-class gazetted officer with the application form for police clearance, photocopy of treasury invoice of Bangladesh Bank or Sonali Bank Tk 500 or photocopy of e-invoice in case of online payment, attested photocopy of attestation of a certificate from ward counselor (if required) will be submitted.

Anyone can apply for a police clearance in their name or someone else’s name. Expatriates can apply online from the Bangladesh Embassy in the country concerned and foreign nationals can apply online with a scanned copy of the attested copy of the passport information sheet and a scanned copy of the e-Challan from the Justice of Peace in their home country.

It takes Tk 500 to get police clearance – from Bangladesh Bank or any branch of Sonali Bank (code 1-7301-0001-2681) you have to deposit the money in favor of the Government of Bangladesh through treasury invoice or online payment.

The candidate does not have to go to the police station during the police clearance investigation. The investigating police officer will go to the address of the candidate to investigate.

Documents such as a photocopy of the passport information sheet, photocopy of treasury invoice or online payment, photocopy of certificate from ward counselor, and other documents (if required) will be given to the investigating police officer during the investigation of police clearance. However, if the investigating police officer wants, he/she has to show the original copy of these documents.

After applying for police clearance, it will take seven working days in Dhaka and not more than 10 working days outside Dhaka.

Police clearance has to be collected from the One-Stop Service Center of the concerned Metropolitan Headquarters in the metropolitan area and in case of the district – from the DSB office.

If the candidate has to face any kind of harassment to get police clearance, the candidate can lodge a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters and Administration) of the concerned metropolitan area and with the Superintendent of Police of the concerned district in case of the district.
